I work from home, but I still have a schedule. On my lunch break I watch my guilty day-time pleasure, Steven and Chris on CBC. It’s light, fluffy and perfect to stimulate a different part of my brain. I’m not keen on the latest fashions, nor do I run to complete the latest, greatest DIY project, but occasionally there is a little nugget of info that makes my life better.
The other day they welcomed Brian Gilchrist on the show -- a genealogist! He had great advice on how to get started and provided info to some free online resources. Check out the summary of his segment. And here is the video of the show. I was so excited to see a genealogist on a talk show that wasn't talking about Obama's Irish heritage or which celebrities have well-known people in their family tree. Just honest to goodness how-to information. Refreshing!
Also, if you live in the Oakville, Ontario area you might like to check out the Ontario Genealogical Society Conference. Who knows? I might see you there!

Why a blog?Family history just fascinates me. And not just my own. There are many facts and people that have been lost to time. I really enjoy puzzles and sometimes I come across some really interesting mysteries in my genealogy travels. I'll post some of my musings here. Archives
